Osinbajo Is Well Qualified To Be President – Sen. Adeyeye

As the debate for who succeeds President Buhari in 2023 gain persistent attention in the political terane of the country, the Vice President has again been identified as a worthy and capable successor for the office of Nigeria President in 2023.

A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Prof (Sen) Sola Adeyeye, in a recent interview reported by Independent.ng, he made various revelations, insights and thoughtful comments about the state of the nation’s affairs.

Prof Adeyeye acknowledged the beautiful and very respected historical accounts of how Prof Osinbajo has been useful and influences major programs and projects that have direct and conscious effect on the lives of Nigerians. He noted that his impacts in various reforms is worthy of him, and he will definitely do better should be attain the seat of Nigeria’s President.

Prof (Senator) Sola Adeyeye is quoted: “However, if you are talking of the success of Tinubu, you will remember that six times, Tinubu took the federal government to court, six times he won. The brain behind that victory was Yemi Osinbajo. Osinbajo has been the most fearless champion of federalism in this country. He did not become Vice- President by accident.”

While disarming claims of friction between Prof Yemi Osinbajo and Asiwaju Tinubu, he noted that the two men are capable and efficient character, noting the trust Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu had in the Vice President, owing to their history of good working relationship and record of accomplishments. He also noted that Prof Osinbajo has a “presidential” trait.

“Actually, I was in Asokoro on the night that Osinbajo’s name was submitted as running mate to President Buhari who was our candidate then. It was the nomination of Tinubu, let’s be honest about that. What did Tinubu see that made him nominate Osinbajo? He must have seen a trait that is unique, singular and presidential because when you are vice-president, you are just one breadth away from the presidency.”

The former Chief Whip in the 8th assembly noted that Prof Yemi Osinbajo will definitely perform excellently as President, because every time he has had the opportunity to perform, he never disappoint.

“Anytime that Buhari had to travel and Osinbajo steps in, things have run very smoothly. He has the temperament, intellect, sagacity, capacity and dexterity required of a true leader.”

Sen Adeyeye also hints on the beauty of democracy which gives room for many candidates to show interest, and warn against assassination of character in advancing choice of candidates.

“So, if Tinubu is interested in the presidency, let him tell us. If Osinbajo is interested, let him tell us. If Fashola is also interested, let him tell us. I pray that the party will make the right choice and I pray that Nigerians will also make the right choice. I don’t think there is anything unique about having more than one person in one political party showing interest in getting the presidential ticket. That is the nature of democracy. I just prayed that in trying to canvass for one person, we will not try to degrade the other person. It is very wrong to do that and I will not be a party to that.”
